Christina Treppendahl is the founder and director of The Headache Center established in 2013 and located in Ridgeland, Miss. She was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualification in Headache Medicine from the National Headache Foundation in 2016. In 2018, Ms. Treppendahl was awarded America’s Top Nurse Practitioner.
Ms. Treppendahl has served as the principal investigator in over 20 national and international phase III clinical trials for headache treatment therapies. She is an active member of the National Headache Foundation, the International Headache Society, the American Headache Society, and the American Academy of Neurology. She is founder of The Headache Center Institute which sponsored the Mississippi Headache Symposium in 2018 and 2019.
Ms. Treppendahl earned a master of science degree from Vanderbilt University in 1998 as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She received her second master of science degree from the Mississippi University for Women as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In 2020, graduated from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark with a Master of Headache Disorders degree.
In 2020, Ms. Treppendahl was featured as a guest expert in the Migraine World Summit.

Karen Geneva Freeman is a Family Nurse Practitioner certified in Headache Medicine. She believes that the correct headache diagnosis provides the proper treatment and that not all headaches are the same. Karen joined the Headache Center in 2019 and obtained her certification in headache medicine in 2020.
Karen is actively involved with clinical trials conducted at The Headache Center for new pharmaceuticals to treat both pediatrics and adults. She is trained in Botox administration for migraines. Karen holds memberships with the American Headache Society and National Headache Foundation. Before she became a FNP in 2018, karen graduate with her BSN in nursing at Mississippi College in 1985 and was a registered staff nurse for 33 years with experience in physical rehabilitation for spinal cord injuries, outpatient surgery, neurology, ER, and ICU. She obtained her Masters of Family Nurse Practitioner at Saint Joseph’s College in Maine.
Brittany Boykin is a Family Nurse Practitioner at The Headache Center who partners closely with Dr. Eric Undesser, neurologist, and Christina Treppendahl.
Brittany’s nursing background has been a variety of critical care, medical-surgical, neurology and cardiac. Brittany previously worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS for 9 years in the ICU. She originally attended Hinds CC Nursing Allied Center in Jackson, MS to earn her Associates of Science in Nursing in 2012. She then went on to earn her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS in 2017. While working full time, she completed her education at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala., and earned her Master of Science in Nursing, graduating with honors in 2019. Brittany is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and licensed in Mississippi.
Brittany, her husband and two children reside in Florence, Miss. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, being outdoors and traveling.
Advanced Practice Nurse
Cara Stevens is a nationally certified advanced practice nurse who specialized in family medicine. Born and raised here, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.
She practiced as an RN for several years in hematology and oncology. She later earned her Master of Science degree again at UMMC. Once certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in family medicine, she went on the work in the field of Allergy and Immunology. Cara began working at The Headache Center in January 2020. She is excited about specializing in the field of neurology. She and her husband have 2 daughters. They live in Brandon, Miss.
Stefanie Carpenter, a graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing and Delta State University, is the newest member of the team here at The Headache Center. A registered nurse with more than 25 years’ experience, Stefanie brings a new dynamic to the nursing role with her motherly instincts and innovative caring skills. Due to her prior experience in the field of finance, she is detail oriented and strives to meet all the clinical needs of every patient. Stefanie is a Madison resident and happily married for over twenty years and two wonderful sons
Prior Authorization Specialist
Jennifer is the super mom to Matteo, River, and Myles and her fur baby named Bain. She spends her free-time woodworking, crafting, rockhounding, lapidary, and creating unique jewelry with semi-precious stones. Jennifer’s natural ability to never meet a stranger and passion for helping others in need are her driving force. Her work brings joy to her heart because she thrives on knowing that it will make a difference in someone else’s quality of life.
Jennifer attended Holmes Community College -Grenada Campus where she minored in Psychology and studied to in the medical field. She the transferred to Queens University of Charlotte to major in Biology. Given her love for the hospitality industry, she also attended our countries prestigious Johnson & Wales University – Charlotte Campus. Being part of the inaugural class for the newly built campus, she helped to establish, “IFSEA: International Food Service Executives Association” chapter. While there, she set up and managed donation sites and materials for Hurricane Katrina victims. Those items were then personally collected and delivered by herself to the Billy Graham warehouse facility for distribution. She was awarded dean’s list until she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2006.
Jennifer has worked in the front office as an administrative assistant for more than two years. Recently promoted to prior authorization specialist, she now meets with the leading pharmaceutical representatives and corresponds with insurance companies to get the most up to date criteria to meet prior authorization approval. She reports this information to our clinical staff, management, and our nurse practitioners to keep everyone up to date. She works diligently with patient records and accounts to ensure the prior authorization information is properly updated in them. She carefully reviews all denials and submits appeals to get the much-needed medications approved by insurance companies for our patients.

Clinical Research Coordinator
Kimberly Carpenter, clinical research coordinator, has been with The Headache Center since 2013. Kimberly graduated from Pearl River Community College in 2009. Her beautiful smile and caring manner have endeared her to both staff and patients alike. During her employment, Kimberly recognized the need for development of new, more effective treatment options for headache patients.Kim’s passion for helping our patients to lead more pain free, productive lives, ultimately lead to her transition from the clinical department to focus on clinical research. Outside of her role as clinical research coordinator, Kim is most passionate about her role as a wife to her husband Derek and mother to their daughter Hadley Reese.
Clinical Research Coordinator
Janet Kilpatrick, clinical research coordinator, joined The Headache Center team in April 2019 as staff nurse. Janet attended Mississippi Delta Community College, Delta State University and California State University. As the newest addition to our clinical research department, Janet is excited about the opportunity to be involved in the study of medications and treatments that could potentially bring life changing relief to our patients. When she is not focusing on work, Jan enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as traveling the world in search of the perfect beach.
Emily’s innate desire to comfort and help those who are suffering led her early—while still in high school—to a career in the medical field, and it has become a life-long passion.
She is especially happy to be part of the team at The Headache Center because she is a migraine sufferer herself. She finds great satisfaction in being able to assist others who are struggling with migraines as they work with The Headache Center to establish an attack plan and prevent as many migraines as possible.
She also enjoys seeing the many advances in Headache Medicine that are available through The Headache Center, and is excited about the relief these new treatments may be able to provide patients in the future.
